SPIRITUALISM-FOR-PEACE

CHRISTIANITY

The word for "peace" in Sanskrit is shanti, and Hindus have many ways to express peace in their prayers, mantras, and symbols:

Om Shanti

A mantra that means "eternal peace for all of mankind". Om is a sacred sound, and the three utterances of shanti are said to remove obstacles. Hindus chant this mantra before devotional activities and spiritual teachings, and at the end of prayers. It's also chanted before yoga and meditation.

Shanti Mantras

Also known as Pancha Shanti mantras, these prayers for peace are found in the Upanishads and are often recited at the beginning and end of religious rituals. They are believed to calm the mind and environment of the reciter.

Equilateral cross

A sacred symbol in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism that represents peace and good fortune.

Hindus also believe in the ideals of ahimsa, nonviolence, and the three pillars of Hindu philosophy: karma (deeds), dharma (duty), and sahisNuta (tolerance). These ideals are said to be key to human salvation and achieving inner peace, harmony, and happiness.
